Fujairah International Monodrama Festival Kicks Off with Star-Studded Opening Ceremony
The Fujairah International Monodrama Festival, a highly anticipated event in the Arab theater scene, officially kicked off on Wednesday evening in the Emirate of Fujairah. The festival, which is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, and his Deputy Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, has attracted a large number of prominent figures from the Arab theater world.
A Star-Studded Lineup
The festival’s opening ceremony was transformed into a theatrical spectacle that brought together renowned stars of Arab theater from across the world. The lineup included some of the most prominent figures in the industry, such as As’ad Fadah, Aml Aref, Jamal Sulaiman, Suzan Najm al-Din, Fayez Qazq, and a number of stars from the Gulf and Egypt, including Ahmad Al-Jasmi, Hani Ramzi, Dalia Al-Bahiri, Shireen Adel, and Ahmad Hatem.
A Grand Turnout
The large turnout of both the audience and the media was a testament to the festival’s reputation as a leading platform for theatrical arts. The event was a significant cultural milestone for the Emirate of Fujairah, showcasing its commitment to the arts and its role as a hub for creative expression.
A Special Opera and Tribute to Theatrical Icons
The ceremony featured a special opera titled “From Fujairah to the Dawn of the Sun,” written by Mohamed Sa’id Al-Dhanhani and directed by Abdul Mun’im Amairi. The performance was accompanied by a dance troupe from the “Inanna” theater company. The festival also paid tribute to a number of Arab theater icons from countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia, who presented their own monodramatic performances. Aml Aref also delivered a special musical tribute, blending music and theater in a unique and captivating performance.
A Global Celebration of Theater
This year’s festival features 19 theatrical performances from 50 countries, in addition to outdoor shows as part of the “Open Spaces” program. The event promises to be a celebration of theater and artistic expression from around the world.
