“Maryam’s Will” Shines at Fujairah Festival
Syrian actors Mohammed Haddaki and Amjad Ta’ama shared behind-the-scenes moments from their new theatrical production, Maryam’s Will, showcased at the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival.

A Captivating Performance

Amjad Ta’ama posted a video on his Instagram Story after a rehearsal, praising the production: “We just finished rehearsing Maryam’s Will—truly an extraordinary show! Mohammed Haddaki brings incredible energy, with brilliant writing by Jamal Adam and visionary direction by Dr. Ajaj Salim.” Ta’ama invited audiences to attend the highly anticipated performance on April 16 at 6:00 PM UAE time, promising an unforgettable experience.

A Theatrical Comeback

Jamal Adam, the play’s writer, shared a photo on Facebook with Haddaki and director Dr. Ajaj Salim, captioning it: “After today’s rehearsals at the Fujairah Festival, tough moments lie ahead, with only days until the premiere. We’re waiting for you, our dear audience!” In an earlier post, Adam described the theater as “a vast space for soaring when tragedy overwhelms,” noting that Maryam’s Will marks his heartfelt return to the stage. He commended Salim’s innovative directorial vision and Haddaki’s professionalism, calling him the perfect fit for the lead role.

The Depth of “Jalidan”

Director Ajaj Salim, in a TV interview, explained the unique monodrama style of Maryam’s Will. The story dives deep into the life of its protagonist, “Jalidan,” a name symbolizing resilience and endurance. Jalidan embodies the struggles of the Syrian people, who have faced over 60 years of oppression, followed by 14 years of war that deepened poverty, displacement, and suffering. Salim highlighted how the play reflects the Syrian citizen’s burden—carrying the world’s woes in a land rich with resources yet plagued by systemic injustice, where families are scattered, and martyrs’ photos hang in every home, all to sustain a tyrannical regime.
Maryam’s Will offers a poignant portrayal of Syrian reality, blending raw emotion with theatrical brilliance at the Fujairah Festival.
