Jihan El-Shamashrgy: From Workshop Boy to Acting Star
Egyptian actress Jihan El-Shamashrgy recently shared fascinating details about her journey before entering the acting world. She revealed that her passion for performing arts began in 2016, but prior to that, she worked in diverse fields like jewelry-making, serving drinks, and customer service.
During an interview with host Mona El-Shazly on the ON channel’s With You, Jihan explained, “I started exploring performing arts in 2016, working in theater and studying contemporary dance. Acting wasn’t my original plan—I spent 15 years crafting jewelry, spending 24 hours a day in my workshop designing and creating everything.”

From Serving Tea to Mastering Jewelry

Jihan also opened up about her unconventional entry into jewelry-making. “I met a man who owned a workshop in the Jewish Quarter and begged him to teach me. He refused at first, but I kept pushing until we agreed I’d work there—making tea and coffee for the workers while observing their craft. I stayed for nine months, hiding it from my mom. Then, when one worker broke his arm in a motorcycle accident, I took his place.” She added, “Even during university, I took any job I could find, including call center work.”

Cheek Fillers? Clearing the Rumors

Addressing speculation about her appearance, Jihan debunked rumors about cheek fillers, emphasizing her natural look. Her candidness about her past and present has only deepened fans’ admiration for her authenticity.

Rising Star in Ekhwaty

Jihan has since made her mark in acting, starring in the series Ekhwaty, directed by Mohamed Shaker Khodeir and written by Mohab Tarek. She shares the screen with a stellar cast, including Ahmed Hatem, Kinda Alloush, Nelly Karim, Ruby, Hatem Salah, Ali Sobhy, and Mohamed Mamdouh.
