Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), recently shared insights into the most-watched entertainment in Saudi Arabia over the past six months, covering cinema, TV series, and programs.
Hisham Majed, Hana Al-Zahid, and Mai Omar Lead the Charts
In a Facebook post, Al-Sheikh revealed that Hisham Majed and Hana Al-Zahid dominated cinema viewership. For TV series, Mai Omar and Hisham Majed topped the list, with Mustafa Gharib emerging as the leading rising star. Surprisingly, the series 80 Baku also gained significant traction, securing high viewership numbers.
Ramez Galal’s program stood out as the most-watched, far ahead of competitors. Meanwhile, the multi-season series The Game claimed the title of the most successful series, unrivaled in its popularity.
Rising Talents in Writing and Directing
Al-Sheikh highlighted notable achievements in writing and directing, praising Khaled Diab and Sherine Diab for their growing popularity in Saudi Arabia. Their work has begun to resonate strongly with audiences, marking them as talents to watch.
Exciting Future Projects
Looking ahead, Al-Sheikh announced upcoming surprises in cinema and television. “The next phase will be transformative,” he stated. Supported by GEA, Riyadh Season, Al-Hosn Studios, and the Big Time Film Fund, new cinematic productions are in the pipeline. Additionally, three major TV series are set for production with full oversight and substantial investment.
For 2025 and 2026, Al-Sheikh teased two groundbreaking programs that promise to elevate production quality and showcase authentic talent. He clarified that these initiatives involve content produced directly by GEA and Riyadh Season, distinguishing them from other projects aired on platforms like MBC, Shahid, and Rotana.
